Our Mission
There are more than 12,000 students currently enrolled in the San Dieguito Union High School District ("District"). In addition, the District controls hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars with little, if any, citizen oversight.

We are a coalition of North County Residents with a desire to protect the educational rights of our children and to ensure that our tax dollars are being managed appropriately and with full disclosure by the District. For nearly two years we have been trying to determine what the District has done, and intends to do, with a middle school site in La Costa Valley. The District purchased the land with our taxpayer dollars ($5.8 million) in 1999 and has done absolutely nothing with it except to promote that a middle school will be built on the site.

Our coalition’s mission has always been, and remains, to work collaboratively with the District to determine:
  • Whether or not a school is truly needed at the La Costa Valley site;
  • If a school is needed, that the District has the funds to build the school and will build the school immediately; and
  • If a school is not needed, that the District and the community will work together to agree on an alternative use for the site that would benefit those who have been subject to CFD 94-2.
To achieve these goals, we have always sought open and honest communication with the District. Despite our request for information, documentation, and open meetings, the District has responded by hiring defense attorneys, refuses to meet with us without attorneys, and, most importantly, ignores our continued request to work with us rather than against us.
